JUST BE FREE consists of a previously unreleased batch of recordings made by a (very) young Christina Aguilera in her
pre fame years. These songs, made when the singer was 14-15 and just dipping her toe into the music business for the
first time, feature the teen siren backed exclusively by the synths and drum machines of producers Bob Allecca and
Michael Brown. Though the CD booklet bears a strong disclaimer from Aguilera, stating that she's not particularly proud
of these recordings or pleased to see them released, there's really nothing for her to be ashamed of here. Despite a
somewhat thin sounding, demo like quality to the production, Aguilera's voice is pretty as much as strong as on her
later hit recordings, and the dance-pop material is not far afield from the sort of sound she'd tackle a few years down
the line. If you're an Aguilera fan, there's no reason to think you'd be disappointed by JUST BE FREE.
